Description

The general idea with this app is to supply a tool where drawing data may easily be collected and synchronized centrally and exported to Excel.

Initially use the administrator module to create and save project information and drawing data in a central project file.
When a DLM (Drawing List Manager) project has been created, configured and saved in the top folder of the drawings folder tree, this app will look for title block attribute values in each AutoCAD® document. Whenever a specified drawing number attribute tag is found, attribute values in the title block will be synchronized with data in the DLM project file.
The synchronization may run from database to drawing or from drawing to database as configured.
The synchronization may be set to run automatically or manually.

General Usage Instructions

The app consists of two parts:

• The administrator module which is a standalone application outside AutoCAD®.
  Only the project administrator needs to install the administrator module.
• The AutoCAD® module which collects and handles drawing data as attribute values in one or more project title blocks

The administrator module
The administrator module handles all the needed project data and holds all drawing data. Data is saved in an xml database file always named project.dlmdb

In the administrator module you handle …

• general project data such as which title blocks to use, which attribute tags to handle inside the title blocks and which Excel document to eventually contain the public drawing list.
• specific drawing data (in the drawings datatable).

Please note!
For now: When a DLM project is open in the administrator module and a user saves an AutoCAD document at the same time, the database may be updated without the administrator module being updated in parallel!
If the administrator then saves the project data, the administrator version will take effect and updates made from AutoCAD while the project was open in the administrator module will be overwritten!

The AutoCAD® module
In the AutoCAD® module the users may decide when to let the app update drawing title block data.

Automatically read the central DLM project data file and update when opening a drawing (database to drawing) and saving a drawing (drawing to database).

or …
Automatically read the central DLM project data file and update only when saving a drawing (drawing to database).
or …
Disable automatic updates.
If automatic updates are disabled, the user may update manually either from database to drawing or from drawing to database.
